What is Bowen therapy?

Bowen therapy is a gentle, hands-on physical treatment that addresses chronic pain and musculoskeletal imbalances.  The non-invasive movements of Bowen therapy are performed over certain muscle groups in a specific order to release and reset muscles, tendons, and ligaments.  The movements also help to increase blood and lymphatic flow to tissues, aiding in detoxification and drainage of congested areas.  The autonomic nervous system is also reset so that a return to old pain patterns becomes less likely.

Most Bowen treatments involves between 5-10 visits, depending on the nature of the condition being treated.  Visits are spaced one week apart to allow the body to integrate and adapt to each treatment.  Usually a patient will notice a decrease of symptoms by their 3rd treatment.

Once a condition has been successfully treated with Bowen therapy, it is rare to have a recurrence unless the instigating stimulus occurs again.  In that case, occasional maintenance treatments may be necessary.
